Chapter 5

1. What did Winston feel when he first met Julia?
Winston felt a strange mix of emotions. In front of him was an enemy who was trying to kill him; in front of him, also, was a human being, in pain and perhaps with a broken bone. Already he had started to help her. He felt that her pain was in some strange way his own.
2. Julia gave Winston a piece of paper, what did that piece of paper say?
On that piece of paper, in large letters, was written: I love you.
3. Winston and Julia decided to meet in the country. Was it safer to be in the country than in London? Why?
No, because in the country there were microphones and the Thought Police often waited at railway stations.
4. What was the "only way" to be safe in 1984's society?
To look always happy when you do anything the Party wants.
5. One of the party slogans was IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH. Explain in 20 or 30 words why the Party leaders want people to be "ignorant."
It means that as long as you believe what you are told, the state has the power to justify whatever it wants.

Is a new lenguage of Oceania that speak the citiziens create for the party.

Party want stop pleasure in sex and love.Sex, for the party, was only nessesary to make childrens.

To be a good member of the party I won't might to have free time and to never be alone except in the bed.

They decided to meet outside of country because they would not be watched over this way by the cameras and for the members of the party.
